Yesterday, I donated my time and resulting images to capture the events of the 10th Annual Inner City Health Center’s Community Kids Fair at Smith Elementary School in Denver, CO. A co-worker at DaVita was volunteering and had asked if I’d be available to help out. DaVita had also contributed a large sum of money towards the event.
The Kid’s Fair offered the students of Smith Elementary bike safety education and provided bicycles and helmets to children who don’t have a bike, and repaired those that were in need of repair. There was also a fun bicycle obstacle course, bike decorations, giveaways and prizes, face painting and much more.
The Kids Fair was designed to build a bridge between the suburbs and the inner city to develop relationships across cultural, racial and socio-economic barriers. This was a great event to get involved with. Probably the most memorable thing from the event was the enormous Oak tree where everyone seemed to gather.
