Work In Action

Work In Action, originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

Actually, it’s hanging on my wall in my house. But I’m in the process of trying to get my work up in some local business lobbies.

Overkill? (Nikon D5000 w/Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR), originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

My wife wanted a better camera than her point and shoot. She tried a Canon G10 but still wanted more. So I picked up a Nikon D5000 and then attached my Nikkor 70-200mm. She was immediately hooked. :) This looks a bit crazy with the tiny camera body attached to the hugh lens. I think it would be great to get an image of the D5000 attached to the Nikkor 200-400mm.

Technical Ramblings: Shot on top of my art table and lit with a daylight balanced fluorescent light from above. Only Lightroom post; cropped, vibrance and clarity boost.

Michele

Michele, originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

Was asked yesterday by my real job DaVita to grab a head shot of another teammate. Michele’s group provides business consulting services to doctors.

Technical Ramblings: This image is natural light. Only post work in Lightroom included; my Nikon standard profile calibration, sharpening, a tad of fill light to lift the shadows, clarity and vibrance punch.

Animoto

Been playing around with Animoto for a few months and here’s a video I created for a couple of up and coming models. I really like how Animoto does the transitions between images and fluid motion with the music.

New Workhorse (Nikon D700)

New Workhorse (Nikon D700), originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

I recently switched from the Canon 5D Mark II to the Nikon D700. Attached to the D700 is the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 D AF. This is one of the last images that will be taken with my 5D Mark II before it goes up for sale. I’ve been a Canon shooter for the last 2 years starting out with the Canon Rebel XTi and then moving up to the Canon 40D. Personally, the D700 works better for the type of shooting I do. I will miss the video out of the 5D II however.

Technical Ramblings: D700 is shot on top of my art table and lit with a single daylight balanced fluorescent lamp plus a north facing window on the backside of the D700. Lightroom sharpening and then off to Photoshop CS3 and the Totally Rad Actions; Oh Snap! (60% opacity).
