Evergreen Colorado

Evergreen Colorado, originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

On the Squaw Pass road on the way up the mountains. A good friend told me about this spot so my wife and I dropped by the other evening. There has been a ton of rain in Colorado this year so everything is still really green instead of the normal crispy brown.

Technical Ramblings: 4 shot HDR. After twiddling with the white balance much too long tone mapped with Photomatix plugin for Photoshop CS3. Added the Oh Snap! from the Totally Rad actions plus cooled down the clouds as well.

Bathroom Still (Lensbaby)

Bathroom Still (Lensbaby), originally uploaded by mark.mortensen.

Got my Lensbaby composer back after having the lens mount swapped to a Nikon F mount from a Canon EF mount. Lensbaby has a great deal of only charging 20 bucks for the swap.

Technical Ramblings: Mix of daylight and tungsten light. The daylight is coming in above the bathroom stuff and tungsten from a mirror light behind me. Post work in Lightroom included some contrast, clarity and select color saturation. Added some vignette as well just for kicks.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM w/EW-83F lens hood

Another piece of glass I’m selling on eBay. This was an awesome lens as well. What I liked about it the most was the lens hood was a perfect size throughout its entire zoom range. The lens was fully extracted at 24mm.

Technical Ramblings: Simple on white shot. Used 2 AlienBee B800s in large softboxes to the right and left of the lens. Piece of white shiny plastic coated wood underneath and white seamless paper for the backdrop. Only Lightroom adjustments of contrast.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM w/ES-71II hood

In the process of photographing all my Canon gear for the eBay auction block. This was one of my favorites for shooting portraits with my old 40D.

Technical Ramblings: Simple on white shot. Used 2 AlienBee B800s in large softboxes to the right and left of the lens. Piece of white shiny plastic coated wood underneath and white seamless paper for the backdrop. Only Lightroom adjustments of contrast.
