Who is Mark? Well this is where I try to give you a sense of who I really am. To let you know who is this guy who will be taking your portrait or photographing your wedding.
A few background details about myself. I’m originally an Idaho farm boy where I earned a Mechanical Engineering degree and worked as a computer and website programmer. In the late 90′s I decided to move to Denver Colorado to continue my computer programming career in the Denver Tech Center. Helped create a website that did a crazy thing of selling cars on the Internet. Who would of thought back then that the Internet would be such an integral part of our lives as it is today?
Photography has always been in my blood. I remember my first camera being a Kodak Instamatic that shot the 126 cartridge film. Taking the 12 images and running down to the local Osco drug store to send the film off to be developed at a Kodak lab. Still have those photo albums with my images of my life as a kid. Good times!
Fast forward to today and photography is my passion. Ask my two kids or wife and they will completely agree. I really live and breath learning all I can about the art of photography. I wanted my kids’ life to be documented with beautiful images of them growing up. This practice with my kids has really helped develop my vision of how I photograph portraits.
My interest in becoming a wedding photographer started a few years back when my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. My wife and I went looking for their wedding images and guess what? There was only one official photograph from their wedding which wasn’t even taken at the wedding but a week after the fact. Come to find out the 8×10 black and white image only exists because my Dad’s mom made them get dressed up again and go to the local photographer in Moscow Idaho. This 8×10 is now the most cherished image we have of my parents from that time. The search for my parent’s images made me realize that wedding images are not only for the bride and groom but more importantly for everyone that comes after them such as their kids and grand kids.
I do truly enjoy getting to know all the people I photograph. There is a sense of great fulfillment when I create my distinctive and artistic images of them that will be lasting for generations.
Thanks for reading.
