Doll Photography : NIADA 2011 Annual Conference

Here’s something different rather than a wedding or portrait session.  Take a look at some very talented doll artists who got together in Westminster this summer for their annual NIADA doll makers conference.  NIADA stands for National Institute of American Doll Artists, however, a lot of their members are from around the world.  It was great to hear the story behind each doll and how some of the dolls looked a lot like their creator.  Enjoy!

Product Photography : A Doll Named Rose by ROotie StudiO

I do like to focus on family photography, however, at times I get requests to do product photography.  A local doll artist down the street from the studio hired me to photograph her custom hand made dolls.  Definitely check out ROotie StudiO and the art work of Leslie Molen. This particular doll, which stands about 12 inches, was made for a client in Russia and is a French girl named Rose.  Rose was created in under 2 weeks and considering the head and face are sculpted out of clay that is no easy feat.  Leslie also teaches the art of doll making so if this is something you are interested in give her a call!

Look carefully at the eyes.  Those are hand painted eyes.
