What is your process?
First Contact
You contact me at your convenience to schedule a portrait session or book me for an event. For a portrait session, the non-refundable session fee is due within 5 days of booking to hold your appointment. You may pay your session fee via PayPal, Check or Cash. With PayPal you can pay with a credit card as well.
Location Selection
Many of my clients prefer to have their portraits taken at a location familiar to them such as a local park or their own home. My preference is for outdoor photography with natural light, however, we can use an interior space in your home as well. More formal indoor portraits can be taken at my home studio or in your home with my portable studio.
Shoot Day
On the day of the shoot, relax and expect to have some fun during the portrait session. I’ll spend some more time getting to know each of the individuals in the session and educating them about photography if they desire. Remember the shoot day is a day to discover and photograph the truest representation of each individual or group. So relax and just be yourself.
Review & Selection
After the portrait session, I will present your professionally retouched proofs for review via an on-line gallery. The gallery will be available for unlimited viewing for 4 weeks. If you require additional time, then a charge of $30 will be added to extend the gallery another 4 weeks. Feel free to contact me during the review period with questions concerning image crops, print sizes and prices, paper types, other image treatments or other product offerings. After reviewing the proofs, contact me with the image name, print size and number of prints you would like to order.
Delivery
Delivery of the final products usually takes about a week after ordering. All of my products are printed at a professional lab to ensure the highest of quality.
What should I wear to my portrait session?
This is a great question. I recommend casual clothing for your portrait session. If the portraits are outside then select clothing that reflects the season. Avoid character based clothing for children and clothing with logos or brand names for everyone else. Think about colors of clothing that are similar. If one person is in white and everyone else is in black, attention is drawn to the person in white instead of seeing the group as a whole. Avoid busy patterns and bright colors as they tend to distract from your faces, whereas solid and dark colors create a richer look. For family portraits, the more similarly everyone is dressed, the less distraction there will be in the final photo. Keep in mind that the most important parts of the portrait are your faces and expressions. Your clothes should be flattering but inconspicuous and not distract from the focus.
What are your payment options?
I accept several forms of payment; Credit Card, Check and Cash. Payment in full is required prior to releasing the final products.
Do you offer product options other than just prints?
Yes, there are several other products that can be created with your images. I offer gallery wrapped canvas prints, coffee table albums, greeting cards, postcards, bookmarks, dry erase boards, calendars, notepads, statuettes and wall clings.
Do you have portrait packages?
Amazingly, no I don’t. There is a reason why. I offer each of my final prints and other products at a reasonable price so you can get all of your favorite poses without feeling the need to buy 15 5×7’s of the same image to fulfill a package. In the end, you get more of what you want without being confined to the restrictions of a package.
